Dublin MMA fighter Ian Garry wants to fight for 'softest' fighter title

Dublin MMA fighter Ian Garry has said that Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz can keep their 'baddest motherf***er' belt, because he wants to fight for the 'softest fighter' title instead.

The UFC duo face off for a bizarre new title this weekend, but Garry isn't interested in presenting a bad boy fighter image and even admitted to Dublin Live that he cried watching 'Avengers: Endgame'.

Speaking ahead of his bout with Mateusz Figlak at Cage Warriors 110 in Cork on November 9th, Garry said: "I want to show people that fighters are just normal people, we're not arseholes.

"I'll sit at home and cry watching a film, I'm not the 'toughest man' or the 'baddest motherf***er', I'm a softie and if they're building a belt for the 'softest fella in MMA' I'll take that any day!

"I cried at the Avengers, when Ironman died I cried because that's my childhood, I've been watching these movies since I was ten and I feel connected to it."

But there won't be any tears come fight night, when Garry steps into the cage against another unbeaten fighter in Figlak at Neptune Stadium next week.

"I can't wait to fight, it's good for me to build up an Irish fanbase and show everyone the hype behind me is true, but I'm not putting too much pressure on myself.

"I'm going to go in there and do me and have fun, I've put the preparation in, I'm training my ass off and I just want to fight and have fun.

"I'm here to show people why I am the future."

Ian Garry was speaking at the Launch of Cage Warriors 110 which takes place in The Neptune Stadium Cork on November 9. Tickets are available now, for details see  CageWarriors.com
