Dublin man rescued by RNLI in Irish Sea helps launch charity's Christmas appeal

A man rescued by the RNLI after getting into difficulty while swimming in the Irish Sea has backed the charity's Christmas appeal.

Dubliner Frank Crowe was in the water off Sandycove, south Dublin, in October 2018 when he realised he was unable to get back to shore as the force of the waves pulled him back out to sea.

Mr Crowe has never forgotten the actions of the Dun Laoghaire lifeboat crew.

He said: "All sorts of things were going through my mind while I was out there, I thought I would never again get to enjoy my post swim coffee.

"Thankfully there was a person watching out for me on shore and the RNLI were sent to rescue me."
