Dublin Lidl Christmas 'trolley dash' raises almost €75,000 for mental health charity

Dublin Lidl stores have raised almost €75,000 this Christmas for Jigsaw, a charity for young people's mental health.

The fundraiser was part of their annual "trolley dash" fundraiser that has been running since 2014.

Tickets were sold in stores nationwide for €1 each in during two weeks in November.

The winners got to do a "sweep style dash" around their local Lidl, taking home a trolley of goodies for free just in time for Christmas.

This year's winners were announced last week and they took home over 170 trolleys worth of groceries nationwide.

Among the winners was Lidl Shankill customer Anne Marie Connolly who managed to grab over €215 worth of goodies during her trolley dash.

This year's fundraiser raised over €73,575 in Dublin and over €280,000 nationwide.

Lidl Ireland Head of CSR, Owen Keogh said he is "heartened by the generosity".

He said: “It’s an incredible milestone to have raised over €280,000 in this year’s Trolley Dash, it’s a fun and festive way to mobilise efforts in support of a super charity.

"With restrictions over the past two years, looking after local community’s big and small is more important than ever.

"The whole team at Lidl Ireland are heartened by the generosity and that so many customers wanted to contribute to a cause that has a real impact for those looking for support in times of need.”
