Dublin legend Alan Brogan praised after calling cocooning GAA fan for a chat

Dublin legend Alan Brogan made someone's day on Monday by calling a cocooning fan for a chat about GAA.

The Dubs legend took to Twitter over the Easter weekend, following former Mayo star David Brady's offer to call cocooning fans starved of GAA action.

Like Brady, Brogan called on fans with cocooning parents to reach out and he'd get in touch over the coming three weeks of lockdown.

He tweeted: "Anybody with Dublin,Mayo or parents anywhere who are cocooning and would like a chat about GAA. Send me a message and I'll call them over the next 3 weeks."

The two-time All-Ireland winner was flooded with replies from fans, and has opened up his inbox for them to share contact details for cocooning fans.

And he's already made one person's day, calling a lifelong Dublin fan who has been isolating for over a month after his son got in touch.

In a tweet, the fan said: "Just want to say a big thanks for taking the time to phone my Dad for a chat earlier.

"You really brightened up his day, he was delighted to get the call as he’s been locked away since all this has started. Really was a great thing for you to do for people like my Da".

The 38-year-old has been at the forefront of GAA fans' minds in recent weeks after starring in an installment of the new season of Laochra Gael.

The TG4 documentary profiled his legendary career with the Boys in Blue that saw him star for the county for some 13 years.

His final contribution for Dublin was to score their last point of the game in their 2015 All-Ireland win over Kerry, the first win on their way to winning an historic five-in-a-row.
