Dublin ladies lose out on five in a row as Meath crowned All-Ireland Senior Football Champions for first time

Meath have won the All Ireland Ladies Football Final, beating the girls in blue 1-11 to 0-12.

An early goal put the Meath side in front and the Dubs failed to overtake them for the rest of the game.

Meath captain Shauna Ennis became the first Meath woman to lift the Brendan Martin Cup.

She said: "Winning this cup is not just for the players here today, it's for any woman who has ever put on a Meath jersey."

Following the match, the Dublin LGFA Twitter page shared a message of support to the players.

They said: "A massive thank you to each & everyone of the @dublinladiesg players who donned our sky blue jersey & represented our beloved County with such pride & distinction!"
