Dublin Jobs: Dublin Bus hiring mechanic with attractive starting salary and medical scheme included

Dublin Bus is looking to hire a heavy vehicles mechanic on an initial 12-month contract with a view to a permanent offer after.

The heavy vehicle mechanic will join the engineering team at Dublin Bus working on the fleet of buses that now consists of over 1,000.

Successful candidates will be required to work day/night or rotating shifts depending on the staffing needs at their location.

The starting salary begins at €692.78 per week rising to €823.73 based on an 8-year pay scale, with shift premium applicable for night and shift work (up to 30% of basic pay).

The main areas of responsibility for the role include but are not limited to :

  • Preventative maintenance and repair of vehicles, plant, and premises
  • All tasks associated with the mechanical systems, electrical systems, and body systems of vehicles
  • Operate garage equipment
  • Vehicle and plant fault diagnosis

In terms of qualifications, Dublin Bus requires the successful candidates to have either a National Craft Certificate for the trade of Heavy/Light Vehicle Mechanic awarded by SOLAS/Department of Education.

Or the applicant is required to have an Advanced Certificate – Craft awarded by FETAC following the successful completion of a recognised SOLAS apprenticeship.

A valid category B driving licence held for at least two years plus a full Category D licence learner permit or the same category B licence plus a full category D Irish driving licence is also required.

Applicants also need to be over 21 and have full written and spoken English.
