Dublin hotel The Hendrick come to rescue for Japanese tourists who got duped by heartless scam

A city centre hotel has jumped to the rescue after some thug scammers left three Japanese touristshigh and dry by over a thousand euro.

The Hendrick Hotel in Smithfield turned heros on Wednesday as they ditched profit for humanity to help the three stranded women who were found "very upset" on the streets of the capital.

The trio were left distraught after they paid €1,200 to what turned out to be a fake hotel booking website.

A passerby found the group on the streets and notified the hotel who were more than happy to let the women stay.

Speaking to Dublin Live the hotel said they were more than happy to help and although they're fully booked tonight the gang were sorted with another place to go.

They also said the tourists were in much higher spirits on Thursday morning as the land of a thousand welcomes lived up to its name.

Hospitality company Host and Co posted a pic of the gang outside and gave praise to the hotel for the lovely gesture.

They said: "Fair play to our very generous clients @Hendricksmithf1 who came to the rescue of three stranded Japanese visitors yesterday, having been scammed by a fake hotel website.

"Their visit to Dublin was turned around by the hospitality of The Hendrick."

Gardai have been notified of the scam.
