Dublin hotel chain the Key Collections to go into liquidation due to ongoing pandemic

One of Dublin's biggest hotel groups has become the latest victim of the pandemic and is to go into liquidation.

The Key Collections, one of Ireland's largest hotel companies, will meet next Tuesday to liquidate 14 companies associated with the brand, The Currency reports.

The Key Collections run The Camden Hotel, Kildare Street Hotel, The Gate Hotel, Temple Bar Lane, Handels Hotel Temple Bar and Hotel St George.

They also operate the Clifden Guesthouse, No. 9 Rathgar, Amberley House, as well as a number of hotels, guesthouses and apartments in London.

A lack of overseas tourists and social distancing regulations could see tourism industry revenues fall by 40% over the next year.

Fáilte Ireland has published guidelines that hotels and guesthouses around the country will need to follow in order to safely re-open from next Monday June 29.

Check out some of the rules below

Physical distancing throughout hotel

  • Guests must stand at least 2 metres away from other groups of people who are not from the same household at all times.
  • Careful consideration needs to be given when using communal areas, while standing in lines, using elevators, stairs or moving around the property.
  • Dining tables, seating and couches in public areas and other physical layouts must be rearranged to ensure appropriate distancing. The same guidelines apply to employees: they must be reminded to stand at least 2 metres away from guests and other employees whenever possible.
  • Restaurants and bars need to reduce seating capacities to allow for a minimum of 2 metres between each seated group of guests.
  • It’s the responsibility of supervisors and managers to ensure that guests do not congregate in groups. Where physical distancing is not physically possible, the property must provide an alternative physical barrier.
