Dublin hospitals could see 500 COVID-19 cases within hours as only 3 ICU beds left

The number of people in Dublin's hospitals with COVID-19 could reach 500 within only a matter of hours as only three ICU beds are left.

At 8pm last night, there were 376 confirmed cases in the capital's hospitals, including children's, and a further 149 suspected cases. A worrying figure shows 92 suspected cases in St James's hospital alone.

Only three ICU beds for adults are left in Dublin's hospitals - two in Tallaght and one in St Vincent's. For children, three are available in Temple Street and two in Crumlin.

Across the country, there were 1076 coronavirus cases that had been confirmed in Irish hospitals.

In Ireland, 101 people were in ICU as of last night with COVID, with 12 further suspected cases also in critical care units.

There were 62 people on ventilators.
