A Dublin hospital has been hit with a significant outbreak of COVID-19 in patients.
St Columcille's Hospital in Loughlinstown currently has 22 patients who have been infected with the coronavirus, and staff are understood to be self-isolating while waiting on test results, Dublin Live reports.
The outbreak is understood to have been caught when an asymptomatic patient began to develop symptoms of the virus, the Irish Times reports.
Late last night, the Ireland East Hospital Group confirmed the outbreak to the publication.
A number of tests are understood to have been carried out among patients and staff who were close contacts of the original case.
Despite the outbreak, the hospital's injury unit, medical assessment unit, and outpatient services remain open as they are not affected by the outbreak.
