Dublin grandad who tragically died in workplace accident on Monday named locally as John (Sean) McCann

A Dublin grandad who tragically died in a workplace accident on Monday has been named locally as John (Sean) McCann.

John, who was aged in his 60s, was carrying out contract work at offices in Ringsend, south Dublin when he fell from a height.

The man from Greenfort Gardens in Clondalkin, Dublin and formerly of Stratford-on-Slaney, Wicklow fell from the roof and down a shaft of a multi-storey building.

Dublin Live reports that emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 1pm on Monday after the alarm was raised.

The local coroner was notified and the body of the deceased was removed to Dublin City Morgue where a post-mortem will be carried out.

The Health and Safety Authority who investigate workplace fatalities was notified and investigations are ongoing.

John is survived by his late parents Barney and Betty and is sadly missed by his loving wife, Phyllis.

He is a father to four sons Mark, Bernard, Aaron and Ciaran and three daughters Denise, Marlise and Annamay.

He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren Adam, Kirstin, Nathan, Conor, Kayley, Alicia, Caitlin, Leah, Jodie, Jolene, Jessie, Emily and Jason.

His funeral arrangements will be posted on RIP.ie on Thursday afternoon.
