Dublin gran to treat family in New Year after massive €100k win on Lotto scratch card

A Dublin gran is set to treat her family in the New Year after picking up €100,000 from a Christmas scratch card.

The generous granny, who wishes to remain anonymous, picked up the amazing win from a gift given to her by her nephew.

And the Christmas Countdown ticket which was bought at the Supervalu store on Station Road in Lusk in north Dublin, ended up being the biggest surprise of the festive season, Dublin Live reports.

It was only after Christmas dinner that she realised she had won something - and even then, didn't realise how big a win it was!

She said: “I still cannot believe it. Every Christmas I always get a couple of scratch cards as presents and never won a thing and then to win this amount.

"The Christmas Countdown card is so big I scratched half of it initially and put it away to finish later, as the house was full of relatives and we were chatting away.

She continued: “It was only after Christmas dinner, I picked it back up and saw I had matched three fireplace symbols and asked my niece to check what that meant.

"She looked at the back and said: ‘You’ve only gone and won €100,000!’

"I’m going to share this bit of luck with my family and I hope it brings us a lot of joy in the New Year."
