Dublin gigs: All Christy Moore Vicar Street shows cancelled except for one, but there is some good news

Fans of Christy Moore have been left devastated as the Irish singer has announced the cancellation of most of his upcoming Vicar Street gigs.

While tonight's performance (December 6) will go ahead as planned, the remaining shows for the rest of December and January have all been cancelled.

The gigs were due to take place on December 8, 14, and 16, and January 3 and 9.

All customers will receive refunds for their tickets.

However there is some good news for fans.

Some of these shows will now be replaced with reduced-capacity concerts, and new tickets will go on sale tomorrow, December 7.

The original concerts have been cancelled due to Government Covid-19 guidelines, and the new shows will have a capacity of 50%..

Tickets for new gigs on December 14 and 16, and January 3 and 9, will go on sale on December 7 at 9am.

Original tickets will not be valid for these dates.

Christy’s new studio album Flying into Mystery was released on November 19 and features 12 songs.

The record is described as "a collection that Christy has brought to life through his distinctive writing and unique interpretation of other artist’s songs."

The songwriter has released more than 25 solo albums including Paddy on the Road (1969) and his multi-platinum pair of live albums, On the Road and Magic Nights in 2017 and 2018.
