Dublin gardai form guard of honour paying tribute to Superintendent after 41 years of service

Garda colleagues formed a guard of honour yesterday as Supt Joe Gannon walked out of Pearse St station in Dublin for the last time.

During a career spanning 41 years, Supt Gannon led several major investigations, including the probe into the disappearance and killing of Roma teenager Mariaora Rostas.

Supt Gannon also oversaw the policing of the visits of the Queen, the Pope and President Obama.

Former GRA president Damien McCarthy said: ”He’ll leave an awful void behind him.”
