Dublin GAA star returns to Shelbourne as Reds make six signings ahead of season opener

Siobhan Killeen has returned to the 11-a-side game ahead of Shelbourne’s President’s Cup final against Athlone Town on Saturday.

Killeen - one of six new additions to the Tolka Park outfit - stepped away from football in 2018 to focus on Gaelic football, and won three All Irelands with Dublin.

Capped nine times at senior international level, she scored 23 goals in 55 appearances during her previous spell at Shels.

As well as her exploits at club level and in Gaelic football, Killeen is also known for scoring Ireland's first ever goal at a Women's World Cup - in a 2-1 defeat to Brazil during the Under-17 finals in 2010.

Her manager then, Noel King, is in charge of Shels, while some of Killeen's teammates in Trinidad and Tobago - including Megan Campbell, Denise O'Sullivan and Grace Moloney - are expected to be on the plane to Australia this summer.

Killeen will be joined at the Reds by Ruvimbo Mucherera, a graduate of the University of North Carolina who has already played in Europe with Lithuanian side Gintra Universitas and Finnish outfit KuPs.

The two attacking players are joined by Christie Gray, Kayla Hamric, Jenaya Robertson and Maggie Pierce.

Canadian centre-forward Gray (23) arrives from Swedish side Rävåsens IK, while 24-year-old Hamric joins from NWSL side Houston Dash.

Defender Pierce has been capped at Under-17 level by the USA, while Robertson is a former Canadian Player of the Year at university level.
