Dublin GAA expected to name Jim Gavin successor by December 12

Jim Gavin's successor in the Dublin management role will be announced by December 12, according to reports.

The Dublin County Convention will take place next Thursday, and it is expected that they will have a manager in place by then.

The County Board management met last night in Parnell Park after which chairman Sean Shanley revealed that a sub-committee would be set up to find the next Dublin boss.

The sub-committee is set to be confirmed on Thursday night and then contenders such as Pat Gilroy and Dessie Farrell will be grilled and a suitable replacement found.

Speaking to the Independent last night, Shanley said: "There is no white smoke as such, all we have done is to propose a sub-committee to interview potential candidates.

"And that sub-committee has to be approved by the county committee this Thursday night.

"So until that happens, we are not in a position to release the names of the people on the sub-committe. If the county committee agree to give us the go-ahead, we will take it from there.

"Ideally we would like to have everything done and dusted before our annual convention on December 12."

Jim Gavin was the Dublin manager since 2012 and led them to lift the Sam Maguire on six occasions, including this year's five-in-a-row in total, as well winning the the Leinster championship seven times.
