Dublin GAA club shut down all activity after positive coronavirus test

A Dublin GAA club has shut down all activities after a member tested positive for coronavirus.

Lusk club Man O'War have suspended all activities with immediate effect as a "precautionary measure".

In a statement, the club confirmed that contact tracing is due to get underway and that they are awaiting further guidance from the HSE.

The statement read: "This is a precautionary measure while the individual in question awaits the commencement of the contact tracing process and further guidance from the public health authorities.

"Those who might be a potential 'close contact' are being contacted by the individual and/or the Club Executive in advance of the commencement of the contact tracing process.

"Our primary concern is for the health, well-being and privacy of our club member and we send our support to them for a speedy recovery."

It comes after three Cork GAA clubs recently suspended activities after an outbreak of the deadly bug.

With competitive club fixtures set to be allowed from July 17, the GAA are expected to expand on guidelines surrounding positive Covid-19 tests and protocols in their return to play plans.
