Dublin Fringe Festival 2019: How to get tickets and five acts you simply can't miss

Early tickets for the Dublin Fringe Festival are now on sale as the festival celebrates 25 years.

The quirky theatre and performance art festival is set to take place from September 7 to 22 for a fortnight of thrilling and provocative events.

The Fringe Festival will run in 30 different locations and you can find early tickets here.

Here are five acts you simply can’t miss this year:

Gym Swim Party

Gym Swim Party (Ste Murray)

Gym Swim Party, from co-creator Danielle Galligan and Gavin Kostick, is an epic tale of revenge told through the pain of the Gym, the pleasure of the Swim and the nightmare consequences of Party.

You can catch this exhilarating triptych of movement, dance and story on September 12 at The O’Reilly Theatre as part of Dublin Fringe 2019.

Nate

You can catch comedian Natalie Palamides’ Nate, a cross-dressing comedy show for the #MeToo era that teaches, with audience participation, that idea of consent.

Nate will run at Project Arts Centre from September 17.

Sorry Gold (Fringe Festival)

Sorry Gold

Aerialist Emily Aoibheann will feature in Sorry Gold where she will push the artistry of aerial in a ground-breaking live art piece, where sculpture and body merge to create the ultimate moving artwork.

Sorry Gold reinvigorates performance as a living and speculative environmental form, counter to a culture of repetition and resurrection, holding fast to an idea that the future is possible, desirable and beautiful.

Thing's We've Always Wanted To Tell You

Scottee (Fringe Festival)

UK-based artist and writer Scottee will bring his latest provocative show Things We’ve Always Wanted To Tell You to the Project Cube from September 19.

This world premiere production for Dublin Fringe asks patrons to sit down, shut up and come along to overhear the conversations of four proud working class Irish folk as they discuss the middle classes, privilege, and the bright lights of Lidl.

We Are Lighting

We Are Lightening (Fringe Festival)

And finally, We Are Lighting is a show about a music venue on the brink of closure and a teen band, a brass band, a community choir and ageing rockers from Dublin to mark and protest its demise.

We Are Lighting is a dark comedy which reflects on the importance of communal spaces where people can come together and express themselves.
