Dublin footballers bring Sam Maguire to Dublin children's hospitals fresh off the five-in-a-row win

Dublin's history-making All-Ireland champions took some time away from their five-in-a-row celebrations to visit patients in Temple Street and Crumlin Children's Hospitals this morning.

Manager Jim Gavin took a selection of his star players, including Jack McCaffrey, Con O'Callaghan, Cian O'Sullivan and goal hero Eoin Murchan to see the kids and parents, take photos and sign autographs.

And the team also brought along the Sam Maguire cup for the starstruck patients after winning it for an unprecedented five-in-a-row.

They first visited Crumlin Children's Hospital, before moving on to Temple Street to meet and greet with fans from around the country.

The Boys in Blue ran out 1-18 to 0-15 winners over Kerry in the All-Ireland final replay at Croke Park on Saturday evening.

Murchan, parachuted into the team after the drawn game, struck the game’s only goal 10 seconds into the second half to set Dublin on the way to their glory as the Kerry challenge faded in the final quarter.

The victory sets Dublin apart from the Wexford footballers of 1915-18, the Kerry footballers of 1929-32 and 1978-81, the Cork hurlers of 1941-44 and the Kilkenny hurlers of 2006-09 as the first team ever to win five All-Irelands in succession.
