Dublin firefighters warn over cardboard danger after blaze at shopping centre

Firefighters from Dublin Fire Brigade responded to an emergency call when they were summoned to an incident at a shopping centre on the evening of Tuesday, September 14.

The firefighters were tasked with preventing compacted cardboard, which was alight, from spreading a blaze to trees and bushes, making the fire all the more difficult to control in the process.

The blaze was eventually brought under control but compacted cardboard can present quite a hazard if not dealt with quickly and efficiently, the brigade said.

It can be difficult to extinguish as the fire becomes deep seated and the cardboard needs to be taken apart to fully extinguish it.

If you are witnessing an emergency, Dublin Fire Brigade should be contacted on 999 or 112.
