Dublin firefighters tackle blazes at two vacant homes overnight

Firefighters from Rathfarnham and Donnybrook rushed to the scene of reports of two homes on fire at Stocking Avenue last night.

Taking to social media, Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted: "Firefighters from Rathfarnham and Donnybrook were called to reports of houses alight off Stocking Avenue last night.

"On arrival firefighters found two vacant homes on fire and crews in breathing apparatus were able to extinguish the fires and prevent any further spread."

It is understood that there were no reports of any injuries, and the blaze was quickly brought under control by firefighters.

Meanwhile, homeowners are being urged to be very careful and to make sure to water Christmas trees this festive season.

Dublin Fire Brigade recently tweeted: "If you are buying a real tree make sure you get a base for it that allows you to keep the tree watered. A watered tree will resist fire.

"Only use LED Fairy lights."

People are reminded to call 999 or 112 in an emergency.
