Dublin firefighters battle compact cardboard blaze outside shopping centre

Dublin Fire Brigade attended a compacted cardboard fire outside of a shopping centre on Saturday.

Firefighters caught the blaze early and were able to contain it, but they warned that compacted waste fire can be tricky to fight.

Posting about the incident on their Twitter page, Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Firefighters extinguished bales of compacted cardboard at a shopping centre earlier today.

"The fire was caught early and contained to only a few bales.

"Compacted waste on fire can be difficult to fight as the fire can become deep-seated and the waste must be broken apart."
