Dublin fire fighters rescue adorable kitten from chimney

Dublin Fire Brigade were called into action on Monday (2 August), but it wasn't in response to a typical call for help.

Firefighters from Dolphins Barn station were alerted to a property in the city where a kitten had become stuck inside a chimney.

Following a bit of persuasion, the cat, which turned about to be a stray, was coaxed out to safety.

The Fire Brigade described the cat as a "fur-middable opponent", but "feline fine" afterwards.

In terms of a name for the moggy, they took to Twitter and said: "We're open to suggestions! Kitty McKittenFace is already being used..."

Names suggested so far include Fiery Mc Furface, Sooty, Smokie and Cindy Clawford (or should that be Cinder Clawford).

If you have any better suggestions, please share them with us in the comments section.

Dublin's firefighters have got recent form for naming animals they have rescued - last month they rescued a seagull from a lamppost... and dubbed him Steve Seagull.
