Dublin Fire Brigade warns people against leaving tea lights and candles unattended

A shocking image shared by the Dublin Fire Brigade shows how dangerous it is to leave tea lights or candles unattended.

The picture shows extensive smoke and fire damage to the wall extending all the way to the ceiling.

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade said: “NEVER leave tea lights or candles unattended. This is the damage caused by a tea light attended by our Firefighters last weekend.

“A working smoke alarm alerted the occupier in time to extinguish the fire before it escalated beyond their control. LED candles are much safer.”
