Dublin Fire Brigade urge people to learn CPR and wish Christian Eriksen a speedy recovery after horror cardiac arrest

Dublin Fire Brigade have urged people to learn CPR and have wished Christian Eriksen a speedy recovery after his horror cardiac arrest.

29-year-old Eriksen suffered a heart attack in the 42nd minute of Denmark's Euro 2020 opener against Finland, the team doctor confirmed today.

He collapsed to the turf in the first half of the Group B fixture and was quickly attended by medics who sprinted to his aid.

The Inter Milan playmaker was stretchered off the pitch after receiving lengthy treatment and taken to hospital, where his condition stabilised.

The scary incident raised the issue of people knowing CPR and first aid as the quick response from everyone involved helped Eriksen survive.

Referee Anthony Taylor immediately called the game to a halt, while Denmark captain Simon Kjaer placed Eriksen in the recovery position before the medical staff rushed to him.

And the DFB have urged as many people as possible to get familiar with basic CPR, sharing a graphic on Twitter, while also sending their support to Eriksen.

"Early CPR and early defibrillation are key to a successful outcome of a sudden cardiac arrest" they wrote.

"Yesterday’s events at the EURO2020 should act as a wake up call to us all to learn CPR. Visit http://citizenCPR.ie

"We wish Christian Eriksen a full and speedy recovery."
