Dublin Fire Brigade to the rescue again to save man and his dog as they became trapped in mud as tide crept in

The tireless work of Dublin's firefighters and paramedics can often be overlooked as it is a 24/7 job for the heroes.

But as those selfless workers proved once again: not all heroes wear capes - as they came to the rescue of a man and his dog as they became stuck in mud, as the tide began to come in around them.

The dog had been swimming in the water when the man attempted to retrieve it, not realising that what he was standing on was not solid.

If this wasn't bad enough in itself, the man then began to realise that the tide was beginning to creep up around him.

It was then that the DFB came to the rescue, as they provided a ladder for the man to free himself and his beloved dog from the mud.

The DFB took to twitter to show how far the tide had come in after 5 minutes, proving just how much of a near miss it was for the man and his best friend.

It is yet another example of how they come to the rescue of those who most need it.
