Dublin Fire Brigade tackle large illegal waste blaze as orange warning still in place

These pictures show the moment brave firefighters from the Dublin Fire Brigade battled a large waste fire in the northside.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the blaze in Clonshaugh last night.

Thanks to their efforts, the illegal waste fire was stopped from spread to the surrounding areas.

There is an orange fire warning currently as Ireland is in the midst of a sweltering heatwave.

The alert, which will be in place until 12 pm next Friday, reads: "We have issued an Orange Forest Fire Warning arising from weather patterns and expected level of risk, and forest visitors should not use barbecued or light fires."

A spokesperson for DFB said on Twitter: "Two fire engines dealt with a large waste fire overnight in Clonshaugh. The illegal waste fire was prevented from spreading.

"An orange fire warning in place for vegetation fires making these kinds of incidents a real hazard for damaging nearby property."
