Dublin Fire Brigade says goodbye to dedicated firefighter after nearly 40 years of service

Dublin Fire Brigade have said goodbye to Shane McGill after 38 years of service.

The firefighter and paramedic had been serving the North Dublin community for almost four decades.

Shane was a member of the C Watch in Finglas and then moved to Phibsborough in 2020.

His colleagues wished the hardworking man well on his well-deserved retirement.

They posted: "Last week we said goodbye to Firefighter/Paramedic Shane McGill after 38 years service.

"Shane spent all of his operational career on C Watch in Finglas and since 2000 in Phibsborough Fire Station.

"In his final years he held the position of union convenor, providing an effective communication link between union members and senior management.

"Shane was a member of the class of 1983, and was passionate about Firefighter safety, modernisation of equipment and training.

"Have a long and healthy retirement Shane."

Locals thanked Shane for his years of service.

One Facebook user said: "Best of luck with the next chapter of your life Shane."

Another said: "Thank you for your service Shane. All the best."
