Dublin Fire Brigade save home after bringing huge car fire under control

Dublin Fire Brigade were able to save a north Dublin home after bringing a huge car fire under control.

Firefighters in Swords rushed to the scene of the fire next to a residential building last night.

They managed to safely bring the blaze under control and no injuries were reported.

Taking to social media, Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted: "Firefighters in Swords extinguished a car fire next to a residential building overnight. The fire was prevented from spreading to the building.

"Car fire produce an incredible amount of heat which can radiate causing windows to crack, PVC to melt or embers to enter roof spaces."

Meanwhile, the DFB is also warning homeowners not to leave kitchen appliances such as cookers and pots unattended.

It comes after firefighters from Dolphin's Barn rushed to a home over the weekend where a kitchen went on fire after a cooker and two pots were left unattended.

They wrote: "Unattended cooking is a frequent cause of kitchen fires and fire alarm activations.

"Forgetting about the cooking, distractions or falling asleep is the main reason behind this happening."
