Dublin Fire Brigade's stark warning after 'opportunistic vandals' set fire to bins

Dublin Fire Brigade have issued a stark warning to Dubliners after firefighters tackled bins set alight in the capital's inner city overnight.

An image of the fire shows the smoking remains of the bins after the blaze was extinguished by Dublin firefighters.

Similar incidents of waste set on fire occurred last week in Baldoyle, where firefighters battled a large illegal dump fire.

Dublin Fire Brigade issued a warning on social media about the bin fires, which pose a serious risk of causing damage to buildings and the local environment.

They said: "Firefighters from HQ were called to bins alight in the inner city yesterday evening.

"Unfortunately, bins are an easy target for the opportunistic vandals.

"Ideally, bins should be stored securely, out of sight and only put out on the morning of collection."
