Dublin Fire Brigade's important advice after resident has lucky escape from apartment blaze in Ballymun

Dublin Fire Brigade has urged people to check their smoke alarms after residents of a north Dublin apartment block had a very lucky escape.

Firefighters rushed to the scene of an apartment blaze in Ballymun early this morning and posted pictures to show the terrifying situation as it unfolded.

At 2 am, they received a call after residents were alerted by their smoke alarm going off. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt with just one person treated for smoke inhalation.

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade took to Twitter to release a statement on the incident.

The spokesperson wrote: "At 2 am this morning, firefighters were called to a fire in Ballymun. A smoke alarm alerted residents and they were able to escape safely."

One person was treated for smoke inhalation. Four fire engines and one ambulance attended the scene."
