Dublin Fire Brigade rush to scene of reported gas leak in city centre

Dublin Fire Brigade have rushed to the scene of a reported gas leak in the city centre tonight.

The suspected gas leak is on South Great George's Street, and four units from Tara Street and Dolphin's Barn have reported to the scene.

The alarm was called when carbon monoxide alarms activated in an apartment block on the street.

There have been no reports of any medical incidents due to the suspected leak.

Earlier tonight, a pair of beautiful pooches were saved by Dublin Fire Brigade after becoming trapped in a smoke logged house.

The rescue, which was carried out by firefighters wearing a breathing apparatus, happened after peat briquettes came into contact with a lit stove.

They caught alight, and the home filled with smoke.

Thankfully the firefighters from Donnybrook and Rathfarnham brought them to safety, and they are now with a vet for observation.
