Dublin Fire Brigade rush to scene of fuel fire in West Dublin after reports of explosion

Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the scene of a fuel fire in West Dublin today after reports of an explosion.

The DFB and Gas Networks Ireland raced to the scene on the Belgard Road this afternoon after locals got in contact regarding a big bang.

Thankfully, nobody was injured and the incident was brought under control.

Manhole covers and roof tiles were blown off after fuel stored beneath the manholes at the site ignited.

"There was some form of fuel in the manholes, and it caused an ignition," a source told Dublin Live.

"It wasn’t a gas explosion."

The DFB tweeted: "Firefighters responded with Gas Netowrks Ireland today following reports of an explosion.

"An ignition in a drain dislodged manholes and roof tiles.

"We often work with Gas Netowrks Ireland to make scenes safe.

"No injuries reported"
