South Dublin County Council has hit out at vandals after a "much-loved" playground in Dublin was set alight.
Dublin Fire Brigade raced to Corkagh Park in Clondalkin after a group set the playground ablaze on Wednesday night.
No one was hurt during the fire, which was contained later that evening.
A spokesperson for the South Dublin County Council said the local authority is working to "get it fixed as soon as possible".
They posted on Twitter to clarify. writing: "Absolutely disgraceful that this much-loved playground in Corkagh Park has been targeted like this. We'll work to get it fixed as soon as possible and we're in contact with the Gardaí on this.
"If you know of anything about this, please contact the Clondalkin Garda Station."
The DFB posted pictures of the incident to their own social media, which clearly shows the smouldering slide in the park.

One woman replied to the post, saying: "It is a crying shame that some people have absolutely no respect for anyone or anything around them."
Another user added: "I don't understand setting fire to playgrounds, for years there were none and now kids setting them alight cos they're bored. Such a shame"
While a third said; "Was there last week with my granddaughter who was on that very slide. Smashing big playground for kids. Utter lousy little b****rds doing that"
