Dublin Fire Brigade recreate Die Hard's Nakatomi Plaza for active shooter drill

John McClane is unlikely to be paying Dublin a visit any time soon but thanks to the preparation and planning of the emergency services the city won't need the gun-toting action hero.

Dublin Fire Brigade recreated the famous Nakatomi Plaza from the original Die Hard film in the city centre on Thursday afternoon.

The scene was put together as part of Mass Casualty Incident training for the Fire Brigade's current paramedic's class.

Hundreds of people helped out with the drill, with many playing occupants with various serious injuries.

Dublin Fire Brigade shared pictures of the exercise on social media this evening which show bodies strewn on the floor, blood smeared on windows and even two signs pointing to "McClane's office" and "Gruber's (Die Hard's villian) office".

Officials said: "The Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) for the 2019 paramedic class was held today in Nakatomi Plaza AKA Wilton Place. The MCI is an essential part of their course.

"The opportunity was taken to have a joint learning exercise with An Garda Siochana and Saint James' Hospital ED.

"The scenario was an active shooter incident. After an initial assault by armed Gardai, the paramedic students were tasked with triaging and treating patients in order of priority before transporting to hospital."
