Dublin Fire Brigade race to scene after truck collides with bus in west Dublin

There were delays in West Dublin on Wednesday afternoon after a collision involving a Go-Ahead Bus.

The Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the scene at Ninth Lock Road where the bus lane has been blocked off.

It's understood the collision happened between the 76 Bus and the leg of a cherry picker truck.

The driver of the bus was helping a wheelchair user at the time of the collision.

Dublin Fire Brigade said: "We're currently attending a bus vs truck collision on the Ninth Lock Road in Clondalkin. Temporary traffic restrictions in place."

AA Roadwatch said: "A collision on Ninth Lock Rd near The Mill Centre in Clondalkin is affecting traffic leaving the village. The bus lane is blocked."

A Go-Ahead spokeswoman confirmed an investigation into the incident was being carried out.

She said: "Driver was parked at a bus stop letting assisting a wheelchair user when a truck ran into the back/side of the bus.

"The driver called the control centre as soon as it happened. Emergency services are were asked to attend and our team are attending the scene and commencing an investigation. Gardai notified."
