Dublin Fire Brigade perform heroic River Liffey rescue near Heuston Station

Dublin Fire Brigade performed a heroic river rescue, saving someone in trouble in the water.

The brave firefighters rushed into their shallow water rescue boat, saving the person from the waters near Heuston Station earlier today.

DFB said the rescued person was taken to hospital by an emergency ambulance from Tara Street fire station.

A DFB spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "At approximately 13.30 a person was removed from the River Liffey at Heuston Station and transported to hospital by a DFB ambulance.

"There were 5 units of DFB in attendance."

The condition of the individual saved from the river is currently unknown.
