Dublin Fire Brigade pays touching tribute to Finglas paramedic Mark O'Brien who died suddenly last week

The Dublin Fire Brigade have paid an emotional tribute to one of their own after he died suddenly last week.

Father of one Mark O'Brien was a firefighter and paramedic who was hugely popular within the Fire Service.

The young dad, who lived in the Northway estate in Finglas died on Tuesday last.

Mark, who was originally from Longford, was hailed by the Fire Service for his "unrivalled knowledge of Dublin's geography".

The DFB tweeted on Friday: "Today, retired Firefighter/Paramedic Mark O'Brien will be laid to rest after passing away suddenly during the week.

"A popular member of DFB, his voice was a familiar tone across our radio network and had unrivalled knowledge of Dublin's geography to guide resources. RIP."

A death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Mark O'Brien, Carraroe, Lanesboro, Co Longford and formerly of Northway Estate, Finglas, Dublin. Died on the 29th October 2019 peacefully at his residence.

"Mark will be sadly missed by his Mam Kay, brothers Alan & Kenneth, his sister Niamh and loving son Conor, nieces, nephew, relatives and friends."

Mark's funeral took place on Friday in his home county of Longford at St Mary's Church in Lanesboro.
