Dublin Fire Brigade mourn sudden loss of Tallaght station officer Adrian 'Aido' O'Grady

Members of Dublin Fire Brigade are in mourning following the sudden death of one of their colleagues.

Adrian "Aido" O'Grady died on Monday and has been remembered fondly by members of the fire service and those who he has helped over the past 24 years.

He was a station officer in Tallaght and co-ordinator of the CISM team which provides crisis intervention, individual and group support and counselling to members of the brigade and the public.

Adrian joined DFB in 1995 and went on to study a Masters in Bereavement Studies following a Bachelors degree in counselling and psychotherapy.

His colleagues in Tallaght said: "The firefighters and officers of Tallaght fire station are devastated by the sudden and untimely passing of Station Officer Adrian O'Grady.

"'Aido' was a true champion of firefighter well-being throughout the whole of Dublin fire brigade and his legacy will remain for many generations in DFB.

"His unmistakable laugh along with his permanent smile and good humour will be sorely missed in the station. RIP Aido."

While the Motor Cycling Ireland medical team added: "Adrian was a huge force behind the awareness of Critical Incident Stress Management and Post Traumatic Stress, he was an expert in bereavement counselling and reached out to the team when we lost Doc John.

"Adrian looked out for everyone and when dealing with Critical Incidents he made sure nobody was left out, encouraging Firefighters, Paramedics and Gardai/Police to seek support when effected by the type of work we do, a huge void has been left with the loss of Aido."

Adrian is remembered by his wife Helen, sons Paul and Sean, daughter Kate, mother and father, mother-in-law, brothers, sister, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and all his friends and colleagues in Dublin Fire Brigade.
