The Dublin Fire Brigade has issued an urgent warning after an e-scooter burst into flames.
Firefighters rushed to the scene of the blaze on Friday night.
The crew tackled the flames using a CO2 extinguisher which suppressed the fire.
Firefighters have delivered a stark warning to e-scooter owners to never charge them indoors.
A post on the Dublin Fire Brigade Twitter page said: "Firefighters were called to an e-scooter on fire this evening. A CO² extinguisher was used to suppress the fire.
"We recommend charging e-bikes and e-scooters outside where possible
"Batteries can catch fire, never charge in a stairwell or communal area."
Lithium-ion batteries in the scooters are known to explode or otherwise catch fire.
When the chemicals inside a faulty battery begin to heat up, they can explode if exposed to oxygen in the air.
