Dublin Fire Brigade performed a heroic rescue after two people got into difficulty in the River Liffey early this morning.

The brave crew dragged one person onto their rescue boat while the other managed to swim to safety.

The Dublin Fire Brigade has warned people against entering the water following the incident.

A spokesperson said on Twitter: "Early this morning crews responded to reports of 2 people in the River Liffey.

"Our rescue boat took 1 person from the water, another swam to safety.

"Avoid entering the water, consider using lifebuoys instead. Help us by keeping track of the person with your eyes."
