Dublin Fire Brigade have issued a stark reminder to homeowners to never leave a washing machine or tumble dryer switched on and unattended in a house.
It comes after the heroes came to the rescue to stop a potentially serious dryer fire in a Dublin home.
The fire caused extensive smoke damage to the house, but it could have been much worse.
The firefighters took to social media to issue the caution after extinguishing the blaze. They said: "We recommend you never leave a washing machine or tumble dryer switched on unattended.
"Overnight we attended this dryer fire which caused smoke damage through the home."
The photos show plenty of damage was done to the walls by the fire, with black smoke marks the whole way up the side of the wall.
