Dublin Fire Brigade issue recycling and bring centre reminder about Christmas waste after being called to bin store blazes

A reminder about recycling and bring centres across the capital has been issued by Dublin Fire Brigade.

It comes as the fire service was called to a number of bin store blazes across the city this week following Christmas.

Local authorities across Dublin have recycling and bring centres where the excess waste from presents and food can be brought to be disposed of in a safe way.

They said: "Over the last few days we have been called to refuse & waste fires in bin stores & similar. Local authorities have recycling & bring centres open for all that packaging.... Check for your local centre."

And they also issued an important notice about the disposal of Christmas trees.

Those with real trees are reminded to keep them watered for as long as they plan to keep them in the home - as dry trees can go up in flames in seconds.

And when throwing them away, there are a number of tree recycling locations across Dublin.

You can find out more about them at the website of the Dublin local authorities - Dublin City, South Dublin County, Fingal County and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County.
