Dublin Fire Brigade crews and engine come under rock attack responding to bonfire near Liffey Valley

Dublin Fire Brigade were victims to a senseless and disgusting attack while responding to a bonfire over the weekend.

Crews and a fire engine based out of the Tallaght station were attending a call near Liffey Valley when rocks were thrown at them.

It's not the first time this year that crews have come under attack.

In August, Dublin Live reported on an incident on the North Circular Road, while last year in the lead up to Halloween there were a number of attacks that led to engines being taken out of action.

Dublin Fire Brigade are now appealing to the community to let them do their job safely as they work to make the capital safe and potentially save lives.

They said: "Overnight our crews & fire engine based in Tallaght had rocks thrown at them whilst attending a bonfire call near Liffey Valley. We're appealing to the community to let us do our job safely as we work to make our city safe too."
