Dublin Fire Brigade has posted a "big thanks" to a person who supplied warm refreshments to crew members on duty during the bad weather on Thursday evening.
The Balbriggan crew were clearing the main southern road into the town of excess flood water using a portable pump, allowing motorists to safely return home.
A good Samaritan gave warm drinks to the workers in "a random act of kindness."
Writing on their Twitter account, Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Our Balbriggan crew cleared the main southern road into town of excess flood water using a portable pump.
"It allowed for motorists to safely return home. Entering flood water is dangerous.
"A big thanks to the person providing warm refreshments as a #RandomActofKindness."
DFB issued multiple warnings to Dubliners after heavy rain caused floods in parts of the capital on Thursday evening.
They advised Dubs to avoid Bridge Street in Swords after it was hit by spot flooding.
They posted to their Twitter account: "Spot flooding on Bridge Street in Swords #Fingal. Avoid if possible."
They also gave a warning to road users to drive safe in the heavy rain.
Posting a video of heavy traffic on the M1 Northbound on Thursday evening, Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Rain and spot flooding is leading to heavy traffic on our roads.
"Breaking distances increase in the wet.
"Wipers on, lights on.
"Beware of dislodged manhole covers."
