Dublin Fire Brigade called to Lucan barn as hay bales cause smoke to travel across capital

Dublin Fire Brigade were called to a barn yesterday as hay stacks ablaze cause smoke to travel for miles.

The flames broke out yesterday evening at the barn in Lucan, with the smoke visible from a far distance.

Those living nearby were advised to close their windows as firefighters worked into the night to try and quench the blaze.

Images shared by the fire service showed the blackened hay bales in the St Edmundsbury area of the west Dublin suburb.

They said: "Firefighters are fighting a fire in a barn in #Lucan. Two appliances and water tanker are at the scene. Smoke is visible in the area.

"Operations are continuing at the hay fire in Lucan. A lot of steam & smoke visible in the area, close windows if you're affected #Dublin #fire"
