Dublin Fire Brigade called to another electrical fire as new pole and pylon fire trend continues

Dublin Fire Brigade fought yet another electricity pole fire yesterday as the new trend of igniting fires at poles and pylons continues.

Firefighters in Portmarnock on Tuesday battled a similar fire close to an electricity pylon, which had the potential to do severe damage to the pylon and a nearby golf clubhouse.

And yesterday Dublin Fire Brigade were called again after another fire destroyed a light pole in Kilbarrack.

They said: "Yesterday evening, firefighters extinguished a fire set at the base of a public lighting pole.

"The internals of the pole were destroyed as a result of the fire leaving the light out of order.

"Dublin City Council public lighting have since made the pole safe."
