Dublin Fire Brigade bravely tackle car recycling blaze as one person rushed to hospital

Dublin Fire Brigade bravely tackled a car recycling blaze this evening which resulted in one person being rushed to hospital.

One person was brought to hospital as a result of a huge blaze on Greenhills Road, Tallaght.

Three fire engines were called to a car recycling centre on Greenhills Road, Tallaght following reports of a fire earlier this afternoon.

Heavy smoke had an impact on visibility on nearby roads.

Firefighters found multiple “end of life” vehicles alight at the scene.

Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted: “We are currently attending a fire on a premises on the Greenhills Road.

“Fire engines are on scene. Smoke is reducing visibility on nearby roads.”

They later announced that they were finished at the scene of the incident.

A spokesperson for Dublin City Council said: “Shortly after 1530 hrs today, three units of Dublin Fire Brigade were called to a car recycling centre on the Greenhills Road following reports of a fire.

“Heavy smoke was visible and this had an impact on nearby roads. Firefighters discovered multiple "end of life" vehicles alight and breathing apparatus teams were deployed to extinguish the fire.

“One person was transported to hospital.

“The brigade handed the scene over at 1730 hrs.”
