Dublin Fire Brigade attend incident in north Dublin after bin set alight beside gas pipe

Dublin Fire Brigade were called to an incident in north Dublin on Friday after a bin was set alight next to a gas pipe, causing it to ignite.

These situations can be extremely dangerous, as it can be difficult to extinguish the blaze when gas is involved.

Speaking on Twitter, the DFB said: "Overnight firefighters from North Strand station were called to a gas pipe fire after a bin was set alight beside it. In these situations it's better to let the gas burn until the arrival of Gas Networks Ireland."

Three vehicles can be seen attending the scene of the fire.

The infrared thermometer used by the DFB shows readings of up to 664C.

The bin was removed and the fire was successfully extinguished.
