Dublin festival features all-female-fronted line-up

Next month will see the second edition of a three-day music festival with a twist – it has an all-Irish, all-female-fronted lineup.

We’ve Only Just Begun festival, which will be held in Whelan’s from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 August,  will be headlined by Dublin acts Wyvern Lingo (Friday), Pillow Queens (Saturday) and Little Green Cars spin-off Soda Blonde (Sunday).

Other acts on the bill include folk musician Ailbhe Reddy, Belfast synth-pop act Beauty Sleep and Derry punk-pop trio Cherym. See below for the full line-up.

Festival director Shauna Watson told DublinLive: "What's special about it is that it's not marketed or billed as "A Women's Festival", instead it's filled with incredible talent each night who just happen to be women.

"We want fans to attend the festival because of the strength of the line-up as a priority, rather than the gender of the musicians.

"70% of festival line-ups in 2018 were male bands with 19% female bands and 11% mixed. Our festival highlights the undeniably talented female-fronted musicians and bands readily accessible in Ireland, making it inexcusable for festival bookers and promoters to continue to have imbalanced line-ups."

Early bird tickets are on sale from wavtickets.ie at €10 per night or €20 for the weekend.
